A Glimpse into my work: New Fluid Art Creations Just Dropped!

Hey fellow art lovers!

It's Martin here, and I'm so excited to welcome you back into my creative world. The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of colour, movement, and unexpected beauty in my studio, and I'm absolutely thrilled to finally share some of my latest acrylic fluid art creations with you.

Introducing the Spill Mini Series

This time around, I'm particularly excited to present new works as part of my Spill Mini Series.

Why "Spill Mini"?  When thinking of the word "spill" in conjures up an accidental tipping of a coffee cup, a drinks glass or something similar. The fluid in the cup or glass spills and goes everywhere!

Fluid art is not dissimilar in some respects, the pouring of the fluid (acrylic paint) is spilled onto a canvas, board or tile and then worked to produce the beautiful effects you see in the artwork on this site. The word "Mini" just depicts the approximate size of the artwork. These can be Mini, Midi or Maxi. I like these terms, they give the viewer an immediate indication of the size of the work they are viewing.

I’ve been wanting to explore a way of providing exiting and interesting artworks at an affordable cost. Creating a dedicated collection allows me to do this whilst delving deeper into a specific concept, pushing the boundaries of my techniques and exploring a cohesive narrative through multiple pieces.

For this collection , my aim is to present small, interesting pieces of artwork utilising the beauty of the forms and shapes created when using the Acrylic Fluid Art Bloom and Swipe techniques.

All of this series are painted on a 20 x 20 cm ceramic tile and embedded into a natural wood frame in a complimentary colour. I try and use the natural wood colour if possible, but as is the nature of abstract art, the specific piece may warrant a colour outside of a natural wood colour range.

It’s a wonderful way to tell a bigger story with my art, piece by piece. I've included one of  my favourites below:

Bloom in Amethyst

Bloom in Amethyst radiates with the raw elegance of organic expansion, fusing hues of violet, lavender, deep plum, and soft whites into a mesmerizing floral explosion. The composition evokes the visual poetry of a blooming orchid or an energetic burst of geode crystals, rendered through masterful use of fluid acrylic pouring and controlled cell creation.

Delicate lacing and cellular structures form across the surface like petals unfurling, while black and white accents carve through the composition, offering striking contrast and dynamic depth. The movement in the piece suggests nature in transformation—expanding, evolving, and reaching outward.

An emotionally rich and visually arresting piece, Bloom in Amethyst is ideal for collectors who are drawn to contemporary abstraction inspired by the elegance of natural forms and bold colour harmony.

This piece, Amethyst in Bloom truly appears like a flow of colour pooling on burgundy beaches and pink waterfalls.

It’s a key piece within the Spill Mini Collection and perfectly encapsulates my intention of the series.

For the colours, I was drawn to a pallet of magenta, purple and white. The pink lacing appeared on completion as a result of the magenta and white blending to produce a beautiful pink veil of lace. This is the beauty of fluid art, no one piece is ever the same, even if I tried to make it so!

As with all of the Spill Mini collection I chose to pour this piece on a 20 x 20cm ceramic tile to maintain an overall smooth gloss appearance.

The smooth surface really allowed the cells and lacing to develop beautifully, giving it that unique depth and flow. The 20 x 20cm feels just right for this particular piece, allowing the viewer to get lost in its intricate details without feeling overwhelmed.

Bring a Piece of My Studio Home!

Each of these new creations, particularly as part of the Spill Mini Collection is a testament to the magic of fluid art, where intention meets serendipity.

Remember, as a limited edition series, these pieces are truly original and unique and cannot be replicated, making them a special addition to any collection. I pour my heart (forgive the pun) into every piece, and it's truly a joy to see them come to life.

I invite you to explore more of these artworks further in my gallery
